How to change a mac user password to the password it was before, not knowing the old password but knowing new1?

December 16th, 2011

Hello there!

Just wondering: MACINTOSH
Is it possible to change a user account password to the one it was before the one it is now on a Mac while:

-having manual access to the computer
-not knowing what it was before
-knowing what it is now
-having root user access

I’ve heard it might be possible with the Keychain Access utility.
If you know how to do it, please let me know :)

Answer:

Not possible. There is no file on the computer that shows old passwords that have been eliminated. Gone is gone.
